This is just a nit:
  bf= might be better named ":bf=lifimage\"

(and you only need one colon between entry's :^)
Copy <sourcedir>/palo/lifimage to /tftpboot/lifimage.

There must be something wrong but I don't see it.

I don't see these types of errors on my config.
Could be related to the misdirected NFSROOT.
