"another type" means you are still using PDC_INITIATOR to get/set data?
What I said couldn't be done was directly poking Host NVRAM to get or set
the values since it's stored differently on different platforms, maybe
even for different firmware revs on the same platform.
Anyway, I didn't like the special case code either. It was just
the "most efficient" to implement.
