other archs don't do init_idle(), so i've removed this for now... do we
need it?

these still need a lot of work... memory.c doesn't come close to
compiling. i don't know enough about the vm stuff to be comfortable
doing more though.

needs more investigation on how this is used.. probably needs more work.
